As the field of candidates running for president grows, efforts to differentiate themselves is becoming increasingly more difficult. They all seek to have as many commonalities with the voters as possible, trying to be all things to all people.
The logic behind this approach may be sound, but unworkable. If you stand for everything, you are actually standing for nothing. The only common theme is: who can give away the most money to the people who didn’t earn it.

To paraphrase an old Yogi Berra euphemism: They are so busy there they are not getting anything done anymore. This seems applies to our legislature. There were over a 1000 bills introduced this session, with issue like mountain lions, prairie dogs, gender issues, making more environmental regulations or the bits of outrage when a senator called The American Flag a rag, all debated.

The year I graduated as an engineer, was the last year for anyone to graduate without the use of a handheld calculator during our college career. Every calculation to solve any problem was done with a slide rule, which required us to estimate the answer first.
