Editorial #325 Perfecting the Question

There is a tactic called “Perfecting the question” used very little, or even considered, in debates.

There is an old saying: “You cannot give a correct answer to a wrong question.”  It is similar to the tactic of giving someone a false choice, purposely leaving out another alternative that is not supported by the questioner.

Propaganda is the promotion of any view advancing a particular agenda. All agendas advance or diminish the spirit of our core values: truth, fairness, sustainability and integrity.  Propaganda is neither good nor bad, but becomes evil when the agenda creates an issue that violates our core values.

Government often creates issues that are not vetted for validity. “What is the real reason for promoting a particular issue?”  Government always tries to answer the wrong question in order to advance their agenda.

Government bureaus do not solve problems. If they did, these bureaus would be out of business.  Government problem solving means spending without accountability or evidence of progress. Most government attempts at solving problems makes matters worse.  They only address the symptom, ignoring the underlying problem.

When issues like man-made climate change, illegal immigration, the pandemic, the economy, election fraud, poverty, racism or discrimination arise, most do not think there is a problem until the government labels it as one.  The media spins it into an existential threat that will kill us unless government intervenes.  All these issues exist because the problems were not perfected, only addressing the
symptoms.

If these problems are perfected it would show:

Climate change is used a tool to extort more money by creating more regulations and finding more victims. Trillions was already spent trying to control something that is uncontrollable.  They have yet to show any effect on the climate for all their efforts.

Illegal immigration would not exist if government followed laws already on the books.

The pandemic is taking its natural course toward herd immunity. The total annual deaths in the US, year over year, has changed very little.  Medical isolation and masks were used before to separate sick people from healthy people, now they are separating healthy people from other healthy people for a virus that is less lethal than the common cold.

The economy was surging until government overreach, to the pandemic, crashed it. There is no scientific data showing any consistency to justify constant changing decrees to impose mandates that have shown no efficacy.

Election fraud would not exist if we all voted in person on the same day, with a valid ID.

I didn’t realize our family was poor until we were told.

Racism and discrimination, largely eradicated after civil rights victories in the 60s, is worse than ever after a black president said it was a problem that he was going to address.  It drew attention to a non-existent problem by calling everything racist or discriminatory.

When someone is found pushing an agenda that is nonsensical, unsustainable, self-serving or hypocritical, ask them to perfect the question! Exactly what problem are they trying to solve?  In the dialogue, they will be trapped in their own circular logic. This is like a dog trying to catch its tail.  It is funny to watch but it shows whether they are part of the problem or part of the solution?

If government did nothing and stayed out of the way, the country would almost certainly be considerably better off and far richer.
